We Updated Our Website! Is It Time to Update Yours?

Amber Blevins • Aug 13, 2020
As a digital marketing agency, Locallogy has always been committed to helping small businesses win at digital marketing – and that includes creating custom websites for our clients.

Some time ago, we took a step back and had a look at our own website. After all, as local internet marketing experts it’s important we practice what we preach. Our website was ticking all the boxes from a marketing standpoint – ease of use, conversion, mobile compatibility, and so on. But we realized it wasn’t really telling the story of us – a small business with a friendly, dedicated team that helps other small businesses.

With this in mind, we decided to give our site a facelift.  Our goal was demonstrating not only what we do, but who we are and how we help our clients.

We're a small business too, and it’s important that small businesses update their websites for a variety of reasons. Here's why.

Tell Your Story

It’s easy to throw up a website that lists your services, your contact information, and a few “About Us” paragraphs. But that type of site doesn’t really tell your potential customers who you are and what you’re all about.

Online consumers are savvy. They can usually spot a less-than-reputable business from a mile away. And unfortunately, if your website doesn’t express your personality and brand, it can make you seem untrustworthy, (even if you’re not.)

At Locallogy, we love working with our clients. We’re friendly. We enjoy meeting new people and learning about new business verticals. We made sure our new website conveyed this.

Provide the Best User Experience

We felt confident our website was user-friendly and easy to navigate. But there’s always room for improvement, ya know?   We made doubly sure our new site is easy to use and provides the best customer experience.

Take a look at your own website. It may have been easy to navigate when it was initially designed, but how about now? There’s a good chance you’ve added content since then, maybe added more products and services, or even added additional pages. Is it still easy for your current and potential customers to navigate?

Consider updating your website to provide the absolute best experience to the end-user.

Mobile Compatibility

It’s common knowledge, most web traffic now comes from a mobile device. And while many websites were mobile compatible when they were initially designed, they might not be anymore. This is because technology is constantly changing. The mobile phones we used five years ago are very different from the ones in our pockets today.

Check out your site from a variety of mobile devices, not just your own cell phone. View your site on an iPhone, an Android, and a Windows phone; check it out on an Android tablet, an iPad, a Kindle.

If your site isn’t rendering flawlessly on all devices, it’s time for an update.

At Locallogy, we knew our existing site was compatible with all mobile devices.  So when we designed our new site, we checked again (and again and again!) to be sure it was fully compatible with all mobile devices.

Complete Overhaul vs A Few Tweaks

If you’re like us and you’re ready for a new, fresh site that feels more current and better reflects who you are as a business, go ahead and take the plunge! Redesign your site from the bottom up with your customers and your brand at its center.

If you’re not ready to do a complete overhaul, not to worry. It may not be necessary.

Take a look at the points mentioned above – telling your story, user experience, and mobile compatibility. Is your site ticking all the boxes? If not, consider what would make it better. If you love your current website, keep it and simply make those small tweaks for the better.

Thinking about updating your website?  Not sure if you need a complete redesign?  Reach out to us at Locallogy!  We'd love to take a look at your site and provide you with honest, actionable feedback.
