More Options Available for Your GMB Business Hours

Amber Blevins • Jun 12, 2020

A few months ago, you may remember Google updated some of the options available in the ir Google My Business listing platform . In response to the ever-changing business environment caused by the health crisis, Google added the ability to update your business ’s operating timeswith special hours as well as temporary closures .

When so many companies were chang ing their hours or were closed altogether, this update made it easier for consumers to find the most accurate information on their local businesses.

Another Update With More Flexibility

Early this month, Google launched another update that allows local businesses even more flexibility when it comes to the business hours noted on their Google My Business listings.

This update includes a “more hours” option, which can be used to designate special times throughout a given day. For example, the more hours feature can denote exclusive hours for seniors, pick-up only orders, dine-in, etc.

Specific hours can be set for multiple times in a day and can differ on each day of the week.

As businesses slowly re-open with various requirements and restrictions imposed by local government, the more hours feature adds another layer of information to GMB listings, helping consumers know how and when to best interact with their local businesses.

Update With a Few Clicks

Like any other GMB update, adding more hours to your listing is as simple as logging into your Google My Business dashboard. Click the Info option and follow the prompts from there.

Remember – if you have multiple locations, you’ll need to follow this process for each location’s listing.

Is Adding More Hours Really Necessary?

Google My Business traffic has been a little sporadic over the course of the past several months, due in large part to the health crisis and subsequent impact on the economy. But lately, the numbers show more and more people are turning to (or turning back to) GMB for information on local businesses. This is a good indication that consumers are venturing back out, ready to make purchases.

If you want to attract these potential customers, it’s imperative they know exactly when and how you’re handing day-to-day business operations. While it might take a few extra minutes to update your listing with specific time frames for each day, the benefit will far outweigh the time you spend.
